MY DIGITAL MARKETING INTERNSHIP… GOING BEYOND THE BASICS WITH BOOTSTRAPVT
This summer I had a digital marketing internship. That sentence, to most, entails running a social media account and sending a few emails (work that any young intern is capable of). Now, yes, I did spend my fair share of time strategizing social media posts and creating email campaigns and templates, but I also learned and did so much more than just pressing a post button.
During my summer as a BootstrapVT intern, I learned the ins and outs of modern-day digital marketing. Those Facebook ads that eerily know exactly what you would like to buy at the moment? The BootstrapVT interns could have been behind that. Working with startups big and small, across a wide spread of different industries- hospitality, tech, specialty foods, and more – was great to understand how through different marketing techniques and platforms, we can uniquely help each company. What works to sell honey won’t necessarily sell boats… understanding the nuances however, took time and practice, which working with the BootstrapVT team gave me.
The highlights of my BootstrapVT summer include shaking hands and collaborating with CEO’s, seeing my campaigns generate profit, having my ideas listened too, working with a fantastic group of incredibly creative individuals, and eventually executing my suggestions and seeing them become realities. I also played a lot of ping pong (which takes a lot more skill compared to its party equivalent).
While interning with Geoff at BootstrapVT, I wasn’t just an intern, but a team member. Getting to work for a budding startup marketing company, and helping other entrepreneurs grow themselves and their brands, was an amazing summer internship experience.
