KellyBoat is a new kind of boating experience. The “AirBnb” for yachts, KellyBoat matches qualified guests with private boats for an unforgettable half or full day on the water. BootstrapVT was responsible for overall marketing strategy, audience growth and new customer acquisition. KellyBoat’s founder, Kelly Shea Lyden, is a lifelong boater spending her summers on Nantucket. When she started this platform, she needed help translating her goals into marketing tactics.
For launch we generated:
KellyBoat is entering its second year of operations and we currently have boats in Boston, Sag Harbor (Long Island) and Nantucket. We will be focused on growing the marketplace for captains, owners and guests.
KellyBoat wanted to launch in Nantucket with the credibility of a safe, secure and trusted boat rental platform. In order to convey social proof, we launched the website, Google Search, Google My Business, Facebook and Instagram all with a content marketing plan in the first 2 months. Kelly, the founder and CEO, personally handled all customers, developing early relationships and also connected with guests.
In addition, Kelly secured some remarkable relationships with Hunton Yachts and the Gowrie Group to differentiate her offering.
Now that Facebook Ads has removed some 5,000 terms from its demographic/interest selection data set, we had to use location, job title and a few other proxies to find our high net worth boat owners. In Google Ads, we deployed a targeting strategy using location and a keyword portfolio of 200+ words. Curious as to how we performed? Ask us.
Before we launched, we were hoping to find a marketing partner for both high-level strategy as well as day-to-day marketing tactics to make an impactful entry into a difficult marketplace, as our clientele have high expectation and would not settle for anything less than best quality. Geoff and BootstrapVT have helped us make a splash in our first season. After our initial experience, there was no question that we would remain with them and we're excited to continue our partnership as we focus on new techniques for scaling for our second year of operation.
